a new creation for a newborn cutie

Just finished this new hat for a newborn cutie who recently made her debut into the world.

charlieI am new at sharing patterns, if you catch a mistake please let me know.

Newborn Hat {Charlie}

  • size: 0-3 months {16″ circumfrence, 5″ hat height}
  • hook size: I {aka 5.5mm or #9}
  • yarn used: Caron Simply Soft, grey heather and soft pink
  • abbreviations: rnd= round, sc= single crochet, sl st= slip stitch, hdc= half double crochet, dc= double crochet

With grey heather {do not turn on rnds 1-5 & 14-16}
Ch 4; join with sl st to form a ring
rnd 1: Ch 1, work 9 sc in ring; join with sl st in first sc [9sc]
rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in same sc as joining; (2 hdc in next sc around) repeat () and join with sl st [18hdc]
rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in join, hdc in next 1hdc (2hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 1hdc) repeat () and join with sl st [27hdc]
rnd 4: Ch 2, hdc in join, hdc in next 2hdc (2hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 2hdc) repeat () and join with sl st [36hdc]
rnd 5: Ch 2, hdc in join, hdc in next 3hdc (2hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 3hdc) repeat () and join with sl st [45hdc]
rnd 6-13: Ch 1, turn, dc in same sp, skip 1, (sc and dc in next st, skip 1) repeat () and join with sl st
rnd 14-16: ch 1, sc in each st around and join with a sl st [45sc]
fasten off and weave in ends

With soft pink weave
Edge: cut a length of the soft pink yarn 3 times the size of the hat. Thread the yarn into a tapestry needle, start by going through a stitch leaving about a 4 inch tail. Weave through each stitch until you reach the end of the round. Fasten off the ends using a square knot and then weave in the ends.

Attach your favorite crocheted flower.
